WAR

T’was the weekend of LAN38 when work began on the WAR motion picture...

The WAR comics do indeed tell a cool story, brother, and we will tell it again. With Hammer, Source Filmmaker and Blender in our tool box, and little experience under our belts, we’re gonna bring you the Team Fortress 2 comics in a media you've probably seen before! We've began the process of replicating 2D environments drawn in the comic in the 3D language known as the Source engine.

The Administrators Control Room

Comparing the 3D environment to the comics this way drew attention to the fact that the lighting is much more vibrant in 3D. This is something we can easily change - it could match the less saturated grey-blue in the comic. Something to think about, I suppose. What do you think?

The administrator's desk is a custom model made for purpose by Tanbouz. It looks the part! Her multi monitor display is an unused model found in the TF2 content files. If we find time we maybe we can re-create the monstrous array of screens that you can see in the comic.

Mister Degroot's House

Here's some more trivia for you: That statue is actually headless! I've just balanced the TF2 Mecha Heavy's head on top...

These are works in progress, and pretty good progress for one weekend if I do say so myself.

That's all from me. 'til next time!
